The Finkenberger Mühle is a listed watermill in the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Breckerfeld in Germany. It is located in a single location in the valley of the Finkenberger Bach (also called Schwarzenbruch Bach ) in the northwest of the municipality, only a few hundred meters away from the border with Ennepetal . About 1.2 km to the south-east is the Breckerfeld village and old farming community of Brenscheid , to whose area the Finkenberger Mühle historically belongs.

The former flour mill was operated for a period of approximately one hundred years until 1964. It is almost completely preserved and has an overshot water wheel with a diameter of 5.60 m and an axle diameter of 0.65 m. The wheel could optionally drive one of three grinding cycles .

history

In the area of today's mill location with the mill pond , there was a predecessor structure that was referred to as an oil mill in the original cadastre from 1826 .

The grain mill, a two-storey three-axis quarry stone building that has been preserved to this day, has been documented by a further cadastral entry since 1871 . It was probably built and put into operation in 1860 or 1861.

Around 1929/1930, the mill building was expanded to include an elongated residential building. Mill and residential buildings have a shared gable roof ; the water wheel is located in a small porch of the mill building.

In 1964 the mill was stopped.

In 1985 the mill was added to Breckerfeld's list of historical monuments under number 26 . It can be viewed after registration.
