The Winkelner peasantry was up in the first half of the 19th century one of three farming communities of the parish and the rural community Hülscheid within the mayoralty Halver of the circle Altena . In 1818 the peasantry had 231 inhabitants. In 1838 the peasantry owned three mills and factories, 42 houses and 43 farm buildings. The 299 inhabitants at that time all belonged to the Protestant faith.
