PM History (spelling: PM HISTORY ) is a multi-thematic German-language history magazine. It appears monthly in the Hamburg publishing house Gruner + Jahr . Its subtitle is: Europe's largest monthly history magazine.

The magazine is best known for its easily understandable reading stories, which are illustrated with numerous photos and images. Thematically, the entire spectrum of human history is covered, with a special focus on classical high cultures and European history .

construction

At the center of every issue of PM History is the large special section , which includes several reading stories on the cover topic. These can be historical events, significant personalities, cultures, epochs or epoch-spanning phenomena in human history.

The focus is framed by further reading stories, the topics of which are clearly different from those of the special section. This also includes a large series of photos with a separate topic and a short interview with a researcher.

Each issue also contains fixed categories, including “A photo and its history”, “Disused”, in which a lost profession is presented, or “Masterpiece”, which traces the genesis of a work of art. “Time Machine” presents a historical event from the perspective of a famous contemporary witness. There are also recommendations for books, films and exhibitions, as well as a riddle. The quotation page "Explosives" forms the end of the booklet.
