The class SP47 locomotives of the Polish State Railways (PKP) were diesel locomotives for the transport of express trains .
In the plans for a successor series of the SP45 series, implemented from 1974 onwards , a more powerful variant for use with express trains was also included. After the two prototypes of the SU46 series completed in 1974, the SP47-001 was completed as a prototype in 1975. It was given the type designation 302D. Compared to the SU46, the SP47-001 had an extended locomotive body and engines with a total output of 2205 instead of 1654 kW. It was designed for a top speed of 140 km / h, but was allowed to drive a maximum of 120 km / h. SP47-001 was painted white with a brown frame, decorative stripes and roof.
In 1977 the second prototype was completed with the SP47-002. He received the normal light green / dark green paint. The same paint job was later also given to SP47-001. Initially ten more SP47s were to be built. Due to the decision of the Council for Mutual Economic Aid (RGW) to stop the construction of large diesel locomotives in Poland, no series production of the SP47 followed.
SP47-002 was parked in 1991 and scrapped in 2001. SP47-001 remained in service until 1997 when it was handed over to the Kościerzyna Railway Museum.
