In PROZEUS (processes and standards) is, to a former e-business development project of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), which will continue to operate using the funding period of time by the project partners GS1 and IW Consult GmbH.

goal of the project

PROZEUS offers advice and information on the subject of eBusiness standards for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Using more than 150 sample e-business solutions from medium-sized companies, it is demonstrated how the effectiveness of business processes can be increased across the entire value chain and which errors can be avoided during implementation.

On the one hand, the small and medium-sized enterprises should improve their competitiveness and be able to carry out further e-business projects themselves in the future thanks to the experience they have gained. Far more important, however, is the transfer of experience to other companies in order to make this sense and benefit of electronic business processes and so-called e-business standards clear.

PROZEUS divides these e-business standards into the following five groups:

Transfer to other companies

PROZEUS gathers the experience that SMEs make in the context of the e-business introduction, processes them and makes them available to other companies free of charge in the form of brochures and detailed reports on the Internet. The reports on the website can be filtered according to the areas of application of the respective eBusiness solution, according to the size and industry of the company as well as according to the corporate division in which the respective eBusiness solution is used. In this way, other companies who want to find out more about a possible e-business solution should be able to easily compare themselves with SMEs. In addition to the information in writing, small and medium-sized companies are also often invited to events in order to present their respective projects "live".

PROZEUS also provides interested companies with detailed recommendations for action relating to the use of e-business and e-business standards, which are drawn up by selected experts from the fields of IT, science and research.

Project executing

PROZEUS was carried out on behalf of the BMWi from 2002 to the end of 2012 jointly by GS1 Germany GmbH and the Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln Consult GmbH (IW Consult), a subsidiary of the Institut der Deutschen Wirtschaft Köln . Since the beginning of January 2013, the project executors have been running PROZEUS without government funding. In the long title, PROZEUS stands for the "Promotion of eBusiness competence in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in global procurement and sales markets through integrated processes and standards". The project participants focused on different target groups: GS1 Germany concentrates on SMEs in the consumer goods industry, while IW Consult focuses on industrial companies.
