PSIS Semarang , often just called PSIS , is an Indonesian football club from Semarang .
history
PSIS was founded in 1932. Until the introduction of the Indonesia Super League in 1994, the club played in the country's amateur league. In 1987 Semarang won the country's championship, followed by another championship title in 1999, this time in the Indonesia Super League. After relegation in 2000, they were directly promoted again in 2001. In 2005 PSIS took third place in the table, in 2006 they finished second behind Persik Kediri . In 2009 the club was relegated to the second-class Premier Division . After a total of eight years of lower-class football, promotion to the top division could finally be achieved again in 2017 .
