Tuomas Haapala (born April 20, 1979 ) is a former Finnish football player who played in midfield . He was last active at Tampere United in the Finnish Veikkausliiga .

Haapala started his career in Lahti with FC Lahti . He moved to MyPa in 2004 , with whom he won the Finnish championship in 2005. After the 2004/05 season he went to England for Manchester City . Haapala was never set up at Manchester , which is why he left the club a year later and moved to the Norwegian Sandefjord Fotball . Haapala had a contract with Sandefjord until 2009, but moved to HJK Helsinki in August 2007 . Haapala retired from Tampere United in late 2010.

Haapala made his national team debut against Estonia in 2005 and has played three more times since then.
