The PSV Salzburg is a volleyball club from the city of Salzburg . He plays under the name PSV Volleyballgemeinschaft (VBG) Salzburg with a women's and a men's team in Austria's second-highest league .

history

After the financial collapse of the then Salzburg representative in the 1st Austrian Bundesliga, Volley Salzburg , previously Paris Lodron Salzburg, Uniqua Salzburg or Quadriga Salzburg in 2004, the team with the trainer Ulrich Sernov, who had returned from Innsbruck , switched to the police sports club Schwarz Weiß Salzburg . They received the license to remain in the Bundesliga with great support from local politicians and the Austrian volleyball association and managed to stay in the league in the first year of existence.

In the following years, the sporting success lagged behind the ambitious goals of the club management. A game community was formed with the local women's club VBG Salzburg, which from 2006 appeared as PSV Volleyball Community Salzburg , PSvBG Salzburg for short or PSV VBG Salzburg . After a mixed 2008/09 season - the women reached tenth place in the 1st Bundesliga , the men ninth place in the 1st Bundesliga - the club had to withdraw from the top division due to the withdrawal of a main sponsor.

After a year in the Salzburg regional league, the third Austrian level, the women's and men's teams have been playing in Austria's second-highest division under the name PSV VBG Salzburg since the 2010/11 season. In the 2013/14 season, the women's team rose to the 1st Bundesliga.
