Pablo Álvarez (full name: Pablo Álvarez Menendez ) (born February 7, 1985 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
The 1.75 m or 1.76 m tall Álvarez, depending on the sources, acts in the position of the defender . He began his career with Nacional Montevideo in the Torneo Clausura 2007, for which he had previously played in the reserve ( Formativas ) since 2005 . There he played twelve games (no goal) in the Primera División and also made ten appearances in the 2007 Copa Libertadores . In May 2007, his move to the Italian club Reggina Calcio was announced. According to information from the Uruguayan daily El País , the transfer fee is said to have been US $ 700,000. Álvarez's remuneration for the signed five-year contract was $ 1.5 million. He made his debut for Reggiana in October 2007 against Palermo. After two seasons in Serie A , in which he was used 21 times, he moved to Poland on loan to Wisła Krakow . There he played 26 games in the Ekstraklasa and four cup games in the 2009/10 season . In the 2010/11 season he moved on to Greece and joined Panserraikos , again on loan . For the club from Serres he played 16 games. At the beginning of January 2012 he returned to Nacional in Uruguay. He signed a three-year contract with the Montevideans. In the Clausura of the 2011/12 season, he came to two missions for the Bolsos and won the Uruguayan championship with his team. He then completed 22 other top division games in the 2012/13 season, in which he scored a goal. In the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana he was set up eight or twice with the Bolsos . In the 2013/14 season he played in 22 other games (no goal) in the Primera División and five matches in the 2014 Copa Libertadores . In the Apertura 2014 he was used four times (no goal). In January 2015 he joined the Chilean club CD Universidad Católica . There he played eleven top division games, three games in the Copa Chile and two matches in the Copa Sudamericana 2015 - each without a personal goal . In early July 2016 he moved to the Uruguayan first division promoted Boston River . In the 2016 season he played 14 first division games (no goal). During the current 2017 season (as of July 29, 2017), 18 further league appearances (two goals) and four (no goal) in the 2017 Copa Sudamericana have followed .
National team
Álvarez completed his only international match in the Uruguayan national team in the game on September 12, 2007 against the South African selection in Johannesburg . There he was exchanged after 58 minutes by Óscar Tabárez for Martín Cáceres .
