Pablo Mieres

Pablo Andrés Mieres Gómez (born July 30, 1959 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan lawyer , sociologist and politician .

Mieres, doctor of law and social sciences, belongs to the Partido Independiente , of which he is also chairman.

After he had already been deputy member from October 1, 1988 to November 1, 1988 in the 42nd legislative period for the Partido Demócrata Cristiano ( Frente Amplio ) and in the 43rd legislative period for two days for the Partido Por el Gobierno del Pueblo , he had in the 45th legislative period from February 15, 2000 to February 14, 2005 held a full mandate for the Department of Montevideo as a representative of the Nuevo Espacio party in the Cámara de Representantes .

Mieres also ran for the election of the president in 2004. He received 1.84% of the vote; Tabaré Vázquez received 50.45 percent. In the 2009 election he ran again; he received 57,360 votes (2.49%). José Mujica from the Frente Amplio became president.
