Pachyphytum viride is a species of plant from the genus Pachyphytum in the family of thick-leaf plants (Crassulaceae). he specific epithet viride means “green”, which shows the unripened character, which is in contrast to the other species of the genus.

description

Pachyphytum viride is an evergreen , perennial , succulent plant and is the largest species in the genus. It forms prostrate or drooping shoots about one meter long and 1.5 to 3.5 cm in diameter. The elongated, petal-round leaves, standing in loose rosettes at the end of the shoot, are not frosted and dark green to purple-red. They become up to 10 cm long.

The inflorescence stems are formed in leaf axils. The inflorescence has fleshy bracts and is elongated and frosted. The radial symmetry , five-fold flowers are reddish inside.

Systematics and distribution

The Pachyphytum viride is distributed in the Mexican state of Querétaro on shady rock cliffs at altitudes of 1820 to 2180 meters.

Pachyphytum viride first appeared in culture at a nursery in Cadereyta , Mexico. The first description by Edward Eric Walther was published in 1937.
