Paco Montalvo (born November 19, 1992 in Córdoba ) is a Spanish violinist . The youngest violinist to make his debut in the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall in New York in the 21st century.

Life

Paco Montalvo started playing the violin under the guidance of his father when he was only 11 months old. At the age of 16 he graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Cordoba with distinction. At 18 he was one of the youngest graduates in Europe. He completed his training at various renowned universities a. a. at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Spain, the Prince of Asturias Foundation and the Meadowmount School of Music in New York.

criticism

North American and European critics call him a brilliant musician. In his home country Spain he is featured in various music magazines such as B. Melómano, Ritmo, Opus Música and Opéra Actual - highly valued. At the age of 14 he was included in the Golden Book of Spanish Music.

Debut at Carnegie Hall

The violinist and composer Paco Montalvo achieved an important milestone when he made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York on April 24, 2011 at the age of only 18. He was accompanied by the New England Symphony Orchestra, conducted by British composer John Rutter . Montalvo played Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 1 . His technical mastery on the violin and his interpretational maturity were highlighted by American critics, whom Montalvo described as "brilliant musicians" and reported that "his solos reverberated with New York audiences". He was rewarded with a standing ovation. He is the first soloist to make his debut on the Perelman Stage of the Stern Auditorium at such a young age. It was a legendary performance of one of the greatest works in the violin repertoire.
