Paide was a rural community in the Estonian district of Järva with an area of 300 km². It had 1,663 inhabitants when it was dissolved in 2017
The municipality included the villages of Anna, Eivere, Kirila, Korba, Kriilevälja, Mustla, Mustla-Nõmme, Mäeküla, Mäo , Mündi, Nurme, Nurmsi , Ojaküla, Otiku, Pikaküla, Prääma, Puiatu, Purdi, Sargvere, Seinapalu, Sillauotsa , Sõmeru, Tarbja, Valgma, Veskiaru, Viraksaare and Võõbu. The administrative seat was in the city of Paide (German: Weißenstein ).
Attractions
The original wooden chapel of Anna (German: St. Annen ) was built in 1650. Today's stone church in the same location dates from 1780. From 1767 to 1824, pastor David Gottlieb Glanström (1744–1824) worked there, one of the early promoters of Estonian-language literature.
