Pal Lekaj (born June 29, 1962 in Đakovica , Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia ) is a Kosovar politician of the AAK and was Minister of Infrastructure from 2017 to 2020.

Career

Pal Lekaj studied general medicine at the Medical Faculty of Prishtina University and received his doctorate in 1993. Before the war in Kosovo , Lekaj worked for various organizations and provided medical aid to those in need. During the Kosovo War 1998–1999 he treated numerous wounded civilians and UÇK members.

From 1999 to 2000 Lekaj worked as the director of the health and social welfare office of the Gjakova municipality , after which he was a doctor at the Isa Grezda hospital in his hometown of Gjakova . In the same year he received a master's degree in health management from a Dutch university .

From 2001 to 2006 Lekaj was a member of the Gjakova municipal assembly, and in 2007 he worked as a manager in the organs of the municipality. He then held two mandates as mayor of the municipality of Gjakova from 2007 to 2013.

In 2014 Lekaj was elected to the Kosovar parliament and was a member of three parliamentary commissions until 2017. In 2016 he took over the chairmanship of the AAK parliamentary group.

Following the 2017 parliamentary elections and the associated change of government, Pal Lekaj was appointed Minister of Infrastructure in September.

Personal

Pal Lekaj is married and has two children. He lives in Novosella . In addition to Albanian , he also speaks Serbo-Croatian , German and English .
