The small rock shrimp ( Palaemon elegans ) is a species of shrimp from the genus of rock shrimp ( Palaemon ) within the family of rock and partner shrimp (Palaemonidae).
features
The small rock shrimp reaches a length of 63 millimeters. The fairly straight rostrum has up to 9 dorsal teeth. Of these, 2 or 3 sit behind the eye sockets. The Peraeopod 2 is powerful. The dactylus is a third as long as the propodus .
Occurrence
The species occurs from the Baltic Sea and southwest Norway to the Azores , the Mediterranean and the Black Sea . It inhabits the tidal coast along rocky coasts, but is also rarely found in the sublittoral .
