Project goals

The main objectives of the project are:

  1. Identification of autochthonous forgotten cultivated plants on the basis of archaeological and paleobotanical studies
  2. Revitalization of the cultivation and reuse of these original plant varieties
  3. Development of culinary products for tourism in the region

These products should become an unmistakable brand of the tourist offer and help to raise awareness of the archaeological heritage of the region. For this reason, cooperation between scientists and local businesses and tourism providers is particularly encouraged as part of the project. This is intended to strengthen the understanding of the similarities in the cultural heritage and in the culinary tradition of the Styrian-Slovenian border region.
