The Palais Althan-Pouthon is a former palace in the 9th district of Alsergrund , along today's Althanstrasse in the Althangrund district .

The building, originally called Palais Althan , was erected around 1693 by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach on behalf of Christoph Johann Graf Althan, who in 1690 acquired large land holdings on Alsergrund. Gundacker Graf Althan inherited the property in 1706 and sold it to the municipality of Vienna in 1713. This sold the site in 1754.

A cotton factory was later housed in the farm buildings of the Palais Althan. In 1777 this was expanded by Johann Baptist Pouthon. In 1869 the entire facility was demolished and the Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof was built.

Today there is an office building of Bank Austria and the University Center Althanstraße with (among other things) the Pharmacy and Geocenter of the University of Vienna and the former Vienna University of Economics and Business on the area next to the Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof .

There is also a Palais Althan in the 3rd district of Vienna, Landstrasse .
