Palais Wiener von Welten
The Palais Wiener von Welten is a palace in the style of the Ringstrasse . It was built in 1869 and is located at Schwarzenbergplatz 2 in the 1st district of Vienna .
The client was the banker Eduard Wiener von Welten . The palace was designed by August Schwendenwein and Johann Romano . At the end of the Second World War, the palace burned out, but, unlike the neighboring former state railway directorate ( Schwarzenbergplatz 3 ), it was rebuilt by the Philips company while retaining the facade . A special feature of the Palais is the small city vineyard in front of it, with a few square meters the smallest vineyard in Vienna. Every autumn the first grapes are picked personally by the mayor of Vienna.
