The Palais of the Apostolic Nunciature is located in Vienna's 4th district of Wieden at Theresianumgasse 31 at the corner of Viktorgasse.

history

The building was erected by Pietro Palumbo on behalf of Pope Pius X in 1911-13 because the former Palais Am Hof had become dilapidated and had to be demolished.

description

The palace is built in the style of a Roman Renaissance building. The front side of the three-storey building with a rusticated base faces Theresianumgasse. The windows on the piano nobile alternate with segment and triangular gables . The coat of arms of Pope Pius X and the Imperial and Royal Austrian coat of arms are attached above the arched portal and a balcony with a balustrade . On the corner of Viktorgasse there is a Madonna figure in a niche on the first floor . There is a chapel in the building. In it is a glass painting from 1887, which the St. Martin and Gottfried von Tours shows. This painting comes from the former Nunciature Am Hof.
