Brauchitschdorf Castle
Brauchitschdorf Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Chróstniku ) is located in the district of Chróstnik ( Brauchitschdorf ) in the municipality of Lubin ( Lüben ), Powiat Lubiński , Lower Silesian Voivodeship .
history
The baroque palace was designed and built by Martin Frantz between 1723 and 1728 on behalf of Karl von Haugwitz, the husband of the writer Luise von Haugwitz . It was built in place of the 14th century castle. Only remnants of the north-eastern section of the moat are visible of the castle. In 1909 a courtyard building was added.
After 1945 the castle served first as a Soviet military hospital, then as a boarding school for the local agricultural school. The castle was registered on May 10, 1951 under A / 2823/268 in the register of architectural monuments of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. A fire in September 1976 destroyed the building. The entrepreneur Dariusz Miłek bought the castle ruins from the Polish state and began the reconstruction.
architecture
The castle represented a stepped building. The three-axis central section, crowned with a curved gable, carried a cross-pitched gable roof. The lithograph from the 19th century shows a different design of the building. Possibly it represented the view of the rear of the building. The castle has two floors and a full basement, with an attic in the middle of the building.
