Dariusz Miłek

Dariusz Miłek (born February 1, 1968 in Szczecin ) is a Polish entrepreneur. According to an annually updated list of the rich in the Polish edition of Forbes magazine , he was one of the ten richest Poles in 2013 with assets of around 625 million euros.

history

Miłek first grew up in Kołbaskowo . Since 1976 he lived with his family in Zagłębie Miedziowe near Lubin .

Cyclist

As a teenager, he began to take part in cycling races, from 1981 he rode in the cycling section of the Górnik Polkowice club . He took part in domestic and foreign races. In 1992 he was Polish runner-up in the "elite" class in road racing in Kutno . Then he ended his sports career. Through his company Miłek later financed the CCC Polsat Polkowice cycling team ; he also occasionally takes part in races.

Shoe retailer

In 1989 he started selling shoes in the Lubin market. He quickly expanded his business (initially under the name "Miłek") and soon sold under the brand "Żółta Stopa" ( Yellow Foot ) at various points of sale. Shoe stores were later opened in retail centers across Poland under the CCC brand . Since 1999 his company traded as NG2 ( New Gate Group , meanwhile as a listed stock corporation NG2 SA ); the advertising slogan for “CCC” is “Cena Czyni Cuda” (for example: the price makes miracles come true ).

The majority of the shoes offered in the NG2 stores are produced in China or India. 75% of the shoes sold are imported. In 2000 Miłek opened a shoe factory in the Special Economic Zone in Legnica . There is also its own production site in Polkowice . NG2 has several dozen of its own brands, which are sold in around 600 stores (under chain brands such as “CCC”, “QUAZI” and “BOTI”) in Poland and the Czech Republic . The company employs around 4,000 people. Around 15 million shoes are sold annually, making NG2 the market leader in the low-price segment of the Polish shoe market. The biggest competitor of NG2 is the German shoe retail chain Deichmann .

Miłek is increasingly investing in commercial real estate, especially in shopping centers . The Cuprum Arena in Lubin , a shopping center with 70,000 square meters of floor space, opened in spring 2009. The entrepreneur was also an investor in the Centrum Korona Kielce shopping center (now: Galeria Korona Kielce ) (34,000 m²), which was completed in 2012 . Three more trading centers are being built in Inowrocław , Olsztyn and Leszno .

Others

Miłek is also involved in the film industry. He founded the film company Aperto Films with the actor Piotr Adamczyk . International productions such as “Limo Driver” with Christopher Lambert in the title role and “Dissolution 819” by Giacomo Battiato were created here . Karolina Gruszka and Benoît Magimel played in “Dissolution 819” . The music comes from Ennio Morricone .

In 2007, the entrepreneur was the winner of the Polish edition of the Entrepreneur of the Year award (Polish: “Przedsiębiorca Roku”) from Ernst & Young . He took part in the “World Entrepreneur Of The Year” 2008 event in Monaco .

Private

In 2008 Miłek bought a large restored palace from Jan Kulczyk in Łąck near Płock in Mazovia . A previous owner was Edward Rydz-Śmigły . He is renovating a historical Chróstnik palace near Lubin, which he has also acquired . He also owns a residence on Lake Garda . The entrepreneur is married to Renata Miłek and has two sons and a daughter.
