Giacomo Battiato

Giacomo Battiato (born October 18, 1943 in Verona ) is an Italian director and screenwriter .

Life

Battiato came to Milan as a teenager and found work as a literary editor for the Mazzotta publishing house in the mid-1960s ; In 1967 he published an Antologia della letteratura e poesia del decadentismo . In the following years he turned to advertising and released the experimental short film La gabbia in 1969 ; In 1973 expressionism followed for television , which was awarded the Mifed Grand Prize .

Also in 1973 he directed his first feature film; for the RAI he shot Dentro la casa della vecchia signora and in the following years several successful films. In 1983 he made his cinema debut with the fantasy film Duell der Beste. He also directed the opera, worked on television cultural programs and has written three novels so far.

In 2008 Battiato won the Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma with his film Resolution 819 .
