Ojerzyce Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Ojerzycach ) is the manor house of a farm from the second half of the 19th century. It is located in Ojerzyce ( Oggerschütz ), a village that today belongs to Gmina Szczaniec (German: Stentsch) in the powiat Świebodziński (formerly: Züllichau-Schwiebus ) in the Lebus Voivodeship in Poland. In addition to the palace, which is now used as a hotel, the park and the historic and largely unused, spacious manor complex have been preserved.

history

The village of Ojerzyce (Oggerschütz) was first mentioned in 1416 when it belonged to a Jan von Waldrode (or: Walderode). Presumably there was a castle of the Kyau family here or in the immediate vicinity as early as the 13th and 14th centuries . From 1450 to 1675 the owners were the von Knobelsdorff family , who also provided the castle captains of Schwiebus . The last of the family to live here was Siegesmund von Knobelsdorff († 1675); he and his wife were buried in Ojerzyce, their tombstones are on the wall of the church opposite the estate. From 1706 the farm changed hands frequently: in 1706 it was bought by Samuel von Kalkreuth, who also owned the Wallmersdorf estate. In 1734 it fell to Max von Schlichting. From 1752 the estate belonged to Hans Heinrich von Briesen, who also owned the estate in Jehser. After that his daughter Charlotte inherited it. From 1810 to 1836 a Herr von Angern and his daughter Beate Charlotte were the owners. Until 1851 a captain von Rabenau and the Landwehr lieutenant Alexander Ewald and Hermann Hilscher ran the estate.

In 1851 Hermann-Friedrich Schneider took over the property. He built the castle-like mansion in its current form in 1855, plus a distillery and other houses and stables. After his death, the property fell to his daughter Marie and her husband Eugen von Schmeling . In 1919 Günter von Schmeling became the owner. Until the expropriation in 1945, Countess Carola von Hahn, nee. von Schmeling and her husband Friedrich Graf von Hahn took over the court and palace owners.

The property was owned by the Polish state until 1992 and was then acquired by the couple Peter and Renate Ohlig from Rüdesheim am Rhein . As a result, the building was converted into a hotel. In 1994 the “Palace Ojerzyce” hotel was opened. In 2007 the house was renovated and reopened under the name "Park-Hotel Clara".

Building ensemble

The entire facility is located directly to the north on a country road that connects Szczaniec and Kupienino or Wityń and runs through the village of Ojerzyce. The European route E30 near Wityń is about 5 kilometers. Opposite the entrance to the palace is the village church, built in 1909 in place of a half-timbered church from 1670. Next to the church there is a church cemetery with a few graves, which has now been closed.

The farm owned around 400 hectares of fields and meadows. Today's neo-renaissance palace contains the walls of an older mansion from the 17th or 18th century. To the north of the building is the small English-style landscape park from the first half of the 19th century. It contains a pond with a horseshoe-shaped ditch - probably part of an earlier moat. Most of the buildings in the farmyard date from the 19th century. The entire building ensemble is a listed building .

Use today

The hotel is closed. The property is for sale (as of January 2017).

The building housed a hotel and a restaurant. In addition to a limited number of rooms, two apartments could also be booked. The restaurant offered regional specialties. The hotel and park could be booked for events. Some of the buildings in the historic manor are in good condition; they are obviously used as apartments and garages. The former stables are unused and require partial repairs. The small park is well-kept and can be used by hotel guests.
