Palazzo Amadi

Palazzo Amadi (also Palazzetto Amadi or Ca 'Amadi ) is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Cannaregio sestiere with a view of the Rio del Fontego dei Tedeschi , diagonally across from the Fondaco dei Tedeschi .

history

Count Francesco Amadi had the palace built in the 15th century on the site of an earlier house that belonged to Marco Polo's family in the 13th and 14th centuries . The Amadi family (or in Venetian: Amai ) originally came from Bavaria and lived as traders in various cities in Italy. They lived in Cremona around 820 and in Lucca in the 14th century . The family produced many church and political dignitaries. Francesco Amadi housed Emperor Friedrich III in his palace in 1452 . and received the dignity of count for it.

The palace is now a hotel called Locanda Ca 'Amadi .

description

The three-story building has a central portal to the water on the ground floor with a pointed arch , flanked by two rectangular windows on the right and one on the left. In the middle of the first main floor there is a triple keel window . The individual windows are separated from one another by Doric columns; the middle window has a protruding balcony . The triple window is flanked by two pairs of individual rectangular windows. On the second floor there is also a triple window in the middle with a shared balcony. This window has three-pass arches and is flanked by two pairs of single windows with three-pass arches. The facade ends with a serrated eaves . On the right side of the facade, between the individual windows on the first and second floors, the chimney draft of an open fireplace is led upwards.

Traces of old frescoes are still preserved inside .
