Palazzo Bonfadini Vivante: Facade facing the Canale di Cannaregio

Palazzo Bonfadini Vivante is a palace in Venice in the Veneto region of Italy . It is located in the Cannaregio sestiere overlooking the Canale di Cannaregio and next to the Palazzo Testa .

history

The palace was built in the 16th century as the residence of the Bonfadinis , a merchant family from Colle Santa Lucia who were accepted into the Venetian patriciate.

The facade, which can still be seen today, was completed in the middle of the 17th century.

In the 19th century the Jewish Vivante family took over the palace, initially for rent, and thus gave it its second name.

The building fell into disrepair for a long time in the first half of the 20th century and was then extensively restored by the new owners in the 1990s.

In 2017 the Società Finalba Seconda Spa bought the palace.

description

The facade of the Palazzo Bonfadini Vivante is rather simple. It has three main floors and a mezzanine floor under the roof, as well as two rectangular portals on the ground floor. On the second floor there are more important elements, a Venetian window with a metal parapet , with which three smaller rectangular openings correspond on the first floor, which are also provided with a parapet.

Finally, it should be mentioned that there is a fine, serrated eaves at the top and a cornice on the facade .

The interiors are of greater artistic value and contain grandiose works of art from the 18th and 19th centuries: a series of stucco works by Giuseppe Castelli are part of a classicist fresco circle by Giuseppe Borsato and Giambattista Canal .
