Colle Santa Lucia ( Ladin Col , German Verseil ) is an Italian municipality with 349 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Belluno , Veneto region , southwest of Cortina d'Ampezzo .

The community belongs to the Dolomite Ladin area. More than 95 percent of the population are Ladins and speak a Romansh language .

The neighboring communities are the Ladin communities of Cortina d'Ampezzo (Lad. Anpezo, German Hayden), Livinallongo del Col di Lana (Lad Fodom, German Buchenstein) and the Italian communities Alleghe , Rocca Pietore , San Vito di Cadore and Selva di Cadore .

history

Until 1918, the community belonged to the Austrian Crown Land of Tyrol , ecclesiastically to the diocese of Brixen until 1964 . In 1923 the Buchenstein and Anpezo area was separated from South Tyrol and added to the Italian province of Belluno. Both after the First World War and after the Second World War, the population demanded that they remain or return to Tyrol and Austria . On October 27 and 28, 2007, more than 90 percent of the population voted for reintegration in South Tyrol .
