San Pietro di Cadore is an Italian municipality with 1583 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Belluno , Veneto region , about 130 km north of Venice and 60 km northeast of Belluno on the Austrian border.
The municipality is located in Cadore in the middle of the Dolomites . The neighboring communities are Obertilliach ( Austria ), San Nicolò di Comelico , Santo Stefano di Cadore and Untertilliach (Austria).
In November 2007 the place caused a sensation, especially in Austria, when the mayor announced the start of a signature collection campaign with the aim of collecting signatures for the connection to Austria.
San Pietro di Cadore is the birthplace of Maurilio De Zolt and Silvio Fauner , Olympic champions in Lillehammer 1994 (4 × 10 km relay).
