Håkan Samuelsson (* 19th March 1951 in Motala , Sweden ) is a Swedish manager and since October 2012 Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Volvo Car Corporation . He was CEO of MAN AG from 2005 to 2009 .

From 1972 to 1977 he studied at the Royal Technical University in Stockholm . He found his first job as a graduate engineer at the Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania . There he held various senior technical positions. In 1988 he became Director Powertrain (responsible for the entire truck drive area), in 1993 technical director at "Scania Latin America", in 1993 member of the board (responsible for development and production).

At the beginning of 2000 he moved to MAN, where he held the position of CEO of " MAN Nutzfahrzeuge " and member of the board of "MAN AG". From January 1, 2005, he succeeded Rudolf Rupprecht as CEO of MAN. His executive salary was 3.3 million euros. Since January 24, 2008 he has been a member of the Siemens Supervisory Board ; For this activity he received 165,000 euros in the 2011 financial year.

His strategy was to concentrate on high-growth and profitable business areas in transport, propulsion and energy as well as a strategic international mix of locations.

On November 23, 2009, Samuelsson announced his resignation. The Presidium of the Supervisory Board appointed the Austrian Dr.-Ing. Georg Pachta-Reyhofen . In January 2011 MAN demanded 237 million euros in damages from him because of a bribery scandal during his tenure. In the course of this affair, the Munich public prosecutor opened an investigation into aiding and abetting bribery against Samuelsson and MAN's former CFO, Karlheinz Hornung. The investigation against Samuelsson ended in 2013.

On October 19, 2012, Volvo Car Corporation announced that Håkan Samuelsson had been appointed as its new CEO with immediate effect. He replaces the former VW manager Stefan Jacoby. In 2017 he received the Golden Steering Wheel "for his success and his extraordinary achievements in the automotive industry" in the category The Golden Honorary Steering Wheel .
