The Palazzo Donà della Madoneta , also Palazzo Donà Dolcetti , is a palace in the Venetian sestiere of San Polo with the address San Polo 1429. Its façade overlooks the Grand Canal . The 13th century palace is located between the Casa Safe and the Palazzo Donà a Sant'Aponal . The palace was given its nickname in the 19th century after a bas-relief with Mary and a putto that was attached to the facade. The palace is one of the oldest on the Grand Canal, the Ca 'da Mosto may be a little older.

history

The building of the 12th / 13th century, which was heavily rebuilt in the 13th century and built according to Byzantine models. Century was owned by the heirs of Angelo Signolo in 1290. It bordered an empty square on the right and the Palazzo Emo on the left. In the first half of the 14th century the palace was owned by two widows from the Bonino family. The large water portal is a work of the Renaissance .

Characteristic of the Veneto-Gothic building from the 13th century are the eight-arched windows that take up the entire width of the piano nobile . The mezzanine is also heavily windowed. To the left of the right window in the first piano nobile is the aforementioned relief of the Madonna and Child . The upper floor has a loggetta from the 15th century.
