Palazzo Giustinian Persico
Palazzo Giustinina Persico is a palace in Venice in the Veneto region of Italy . It is located in the San Polo sestiere with a view of the Grand Canal at the confluence of the Rio San Tomà , not far from the Palazzo Tiepolo and opposite the Palazzi Mocenigo .
history
The palace was built by the noble Giustinian family in the 16th century, but it soon fell to the Persico family (also called Da Persico ) from Bergamo , who had bought into the Venetian patriciate.
description
The front, inspired by (but not attributed to) the work of Mauro Codussi , was created in the 16th century: it is one of the first Venetian buildings to be built in the Renaissance style, and so it shows wide and clear lines Surfaces. With its red paint, the four-story building (one mezzanine floor below and three full floors above) appears elegant and has two quadruple windows one above the other in the middle, each flanked by a pair of individual windows. The frames of these windows are very exquisite. The architecturally less interesting rear facade of the palace overlooks a large garden.
