Tiepolo Palace
The Palazzo Tiepolo is a city palace in the Venetian sestiere San Polo with the address San Polo 2774. The building overlooks the Canal Grande , on the right bank of which it stands, and rises between the Palazzo Soranzo Pisani (San Polo 2781) and the Palazzo Pisani Moretta . It was built by the Querini family in the mid-16th century on the site of an older palace and was then owned by the Tiepolo and the Passi. It is still privately owned today.
The builder is not known. He built the palace in the Renaissance style , with two piani nobili ( soleri ) rising above the piano terra ( pé pian ) and a soppalco below the roof.
Remains of the frescoes by Andrea Meldola (1522–1563) can still be found on the facade . The interiors are decorated with polychrome stucco work , while the portego is decorated with frescoes by Jacopo Guarana .
