The Palazzo Margherita (formerly Palazzo Piombino) is a palace in the district Ludovisi in Rome .

The Palazzo Piombino was built in the Villa Ludovisi, which is surrounded by extensive gardens . It was built between 1886 and 1890 by the Italian architect Gaetano Koch on the then newly built Via Veneto for Rodolfo Boncompagni Ludovisi, the prince of the Principality of Piombino . The palace was later sold as a result of economic difficulties. After the murder of her husband, the Italian King Umberto I , in Monza , his wife Margaret of Italy lived in the palace from 1900 until her death in 1926.

Since 1931 it has been the seat of the United States Embassy . The building was purchased by the US government in 1946 and extensively renovated between 1949 and 1952.
