The Via Vittorio Veneto briefly Via Veneto called, is a street in Rome , by the Piazza Barberini to Porta Pinciana leads and after the Battle of Vittorio Veneto was named.

The road was built in the 1880s during a property boom following the annexation of Rome to the new Kingdom of Italy . In the 1950s and 60s, Via Veneto gained international fame as the center of Dolce Vita ("the sweet life"), when its bars and restaurants were Hollywood stars and jet-set personalities such as Audrey Hepburn , Anita Ekberg , Anna Magnani , Gary Cooper , Orson Welles , Tennessee Williams , Jean Cocteau and Coco Chanel . The 1960 film La Dolce Vita by Federico Fellini immortalized the hyperactive lifestyle, the lights and the crawling stream of honking traffic in Via Veneto. Some of the most famous cafes and five-star hotels in Rome, such as the Café de Paris, Harry's Bar (Rome) , the Regina Hotel Baglioni and the Westin Excelsior in Rome, are located on Via Veneto.

About halfway there is the United States Embassy in Palazzo Margherita .
