Palazzo Vitturi

Palazzo Vitturi is a palace in Venice in the Veneto region of Italy . It is located in the Castello sestiere on Campo Santa Maria Formosa next to Ca 'Venier . It is the oldest building on this square.

history

The Palazzo Vitturi is a very old building: it was built in the second half of the 13th century. Over the centuries it has been rebuilt and modernized several times, but this has not affected the original structure.

Today it is in good condition and houses a hotel and shops.

description

The facade of the palace is Venetian- Byzantine and dates from the 13th and 14th centuries.

The window openings and decorations on the main floor are particularly interesting: there is a quadruple window with pointed arches , flanked by two pairs of single windows with keel arches , around which you can still see the tiles and half-reliefs of the original building. The balusters with which the windows are fitted refer to later epochs (16th – 17th centuries).

On the mezzanine , a small triple arched window should be highlighted in the middle.

The top floor with its rectangular window openings dates from a later period than the rest of the complex; the ground floor has also lost its original features.

Inside, frescoes have been preserved on the main floor .
