Palazzo Tiepolo Passi , also Palazzetto Tiepolo, Palazzo Tiepoletto Passi or Ca 'Tiepoletto Passi , is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Sestiere of San Polo , overlooking the Grand Canal between the Palazzo Soranzo Pisani and the Palazzo Giustinian Persico .

history

The Gothic palace dates from the beginning of the 14th century and has been rebuilt several times over the centuries.

From an apartment in this palace, on November 3, 1945, the broadcasts of Radio Venezia Giulia began , which was set up to provide information and psychological information to the Italian population of the Julian Veneto region, and in particular the inhabitants of Istria under the control of Yugoslavia and Marshal Tito to support. The commission to open the radio station was coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Count Justo Giusti del Giardino .

The palace is narrow and high; it extends over four floors, of which only the first main floor has particular architectural value.

The ground floor with the mezzanine floor above has a stone base and a portal to the water with an architrave on the far right. The first main floor shows on the left side double windows with keel arches , a small terrace and “Fiorini” at their tips, separated by a central column. The two single windows on the right, however, have three-pass arches . The other floors each have four rectangular window openings, the arrangement of which corresponds to that of the first main floor.
