Palkovické hůrky is a geomorphological sub-unit of the Beskydy foothills in the Czech Republic . The hill country is about 5 kilometers southwest of the town of Frýdek-Místek ; on its fringes lie the municipalities of Palkovice , Hukvaldy and Kozlovice .

The Palkovické hůrky consist of a larger northern and a smaller southern part. Both parts are separated by the valley of the Ondřejnice river . The highest peaks in the north are Kubánkov (661 m), Babí hora (619 m) and Kabátice (601 m). The southern slope of Babí hora is on 35 hectares as a nature reserve Palkovické hůrky under state protection. The mixed beech forest there is considered a well-preserved example of the original vegetation in the foothills of the Beskids.

The highest point of the southern part is called Kazničov (601 m). Two smaller hills flank it. The northern elevation is crowned by the Hukvaldy Castle , one of the largest ruins in Moravia. The castle hill and the neighboring Kazničov are fenced in as a game reserve in which fallow deer and mouflon live on 457 hectares . The enclosure, which was originally maintained by the castle owners, was first mentioned in 1567 . Since 1999 it has been protected as a natural monument Hradní vrch Hukvaldy on 77 hectares. The area has the character of a forest park and offers, among other things, a habitat for the rare hermit beetle . A third small natural monument called Pod hukvaldskou oborou is located on the southern hill Skalka (409 m).

The Palkovické hůrky hill country is a local recreation area that is criss-crossed by a number of marked hiking and educational trails and is also used by mountain bikers and enduro riders. An observation tower and a ski lift are available to visitors on the Kabátice mountain.
