The Pallas Peak is a steep, three-sided and about 500 m high mountain in the south of the West Antarctic Alexander Island . It rises halfway between the Ceres Nunatakkern and the Stephenson Nunatak . While its west flank is criss-crossed by numerous gullies, the east flank shows itself as a moderate rise of snow and rock.
The Directorate of Overseas Surveys , in collaboration with the United States Geological Survey, mapped it using satellite images from NASA . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1974 after the asteroid (2) Pallas from the asteroid belt .
