Palo Alto Networks, Inc. ( NYSE : PANW) is an American multinational IT security company headquartered in Santa Clara , California . Its core products are a platform that includes advanced firewalls and cloud-based offerings that add more security to these firewalls. The company works for over 60,000 organizations in more than 150 countries, including 85 of the Fortune 100 , hosts the Unit 42 threat research team and hosts the Ignite cybersecurity conference. The company's mission statement is "Cybersecurity partner of choice, protecting our digital way of life". In June 2018, the company was listed at number 8 on the Forbes Digital 100.

Palo Alto Networks was founded in 2005 by Nir Zuk, a former engineer with Check Point and NetScreen Technologies, who was the lead developer of the first stateful inspection firewall and intrusion prevention system.

The company has been delivering a corporate firewall since 2007.

In June 2018, former Google and SoftBank executive Nikesh Arora joined the company as Chairman and CEO .

His predecessor, Mark McLaughlin, became vice chairman of the board. Arora received approximately $ 128 million in salaries, making him one of the highest paid executives in the United States. In September 2018, Liane Hornsey, formerly Chief People Officer at Uber , joined Palo Alto Networks as Chief People Officer. In October 2018, Amit Singh, formerly President of Google Cloud , succeeded Mark Anderson as President of Palo Alto Networks.
