The Palovesi forms a link in a chain of lakes in the Finnish landscape of Pirkanmaa . In the north, the Ruovesi flows into the Palovesi, which in turn is drained to the Näsijärvi to the south .
The lake is made up of three open bodies of water in a row : Jäminginselkä , the actual Palovesi and the Ohrioriselkä .
The water area covers 42.72 km². The lake is at a level of 96 m and reaches a maximum water depth of 60.97 m. The lake is located in the municipality of Ruovesi , the center of which is a few kilometers northeast.
