Eino Palovesi

Eino Oskari Palovesi (born May 19, 1904 in Perho , † February 25, 1980 in Jyväskylä ) was a Finnish politician of the Landbund ML (Maalaisliitto) , who was Finland's interior minister between 1959 and 1960 . He was also the first governor of the Central Finland Province from 1960 to 1971 .

Life

Palovesi, son of farmer Heikki Möttönen and its Alma Emilia Oksakoski, attended by primary school from 1923 to 1926 the agricultural school and was afterwards until 1939 as a farmer working and at the same time as a consultant to the Small Farmers Association in central Finland and in North Savo . From 1932 until his death in 1980 he was the owner of a farm in Karstula .

In the election on July 1 and 2, 1939 , he was elected a member of the Reichstag for the Landbund in the Vaasa constituency, to which he was a member for more than twenty years until February 9, 1960. During his membership in parliament he was chairman of the Committee on Transport and Public Works between 1955 and 1956. On March 8, 1956, he was appointed Minister of Transport and Public Works (Kulkulaitosten ja ybaren töiden ministeri) to the Fagerholm II cabinet , to which he was a member until May 26, 1957. In the Sukselainen II cabinet he held the post of Interior Minister (Sisäasiainministeri) from January 13, 1961 until his replacement by Eemil Luukka on February 4, 1960 .

After leaving the government and the Reichstag, Palovesi became the first governor of the newly created province of Central Finland in 1960 and held this position until 1971, after which he was replaced by Artturi Jämsén .

Palovesi was married twice, between 1930 and 1968 in first marriage with Alma Humppi and in second marriage since 1970 with Leena Hellin Pekkanen.
