1956 Pan American Football Championship
The second Pan American Football Championship was held from February 26 to March 18, 1956 in Mexico City .
Brazil, which won the tournament, was represented by a selection from the state of Rio Grande do Sul and therefore consisted exclusively of players from SC Internacional and Gremio Porto Alegre . Brazil and Peru faced each other on matchday two. Brazil led 1-0, but the Peruvians dominated the second half. The Brazilian masseur Moura was still on the field after a treatment when a Peruvian approached the Brazilian gate dangerously. Moura threw his treatment case from the goal line in the legs of the charging Félix Castilho. This then fell over. Then there were some ugly scenes with punches and the like. When the game was interrupted, Moura was sent off. After that the Peruvians lost their momentum and the result was there.
