Pandebu (also Pandebu-Tokpombu) is a city in Sierra Leone . It is located southeast of Kenema near the border with Liberia in the Kenema district in the eastern province .
The city's population traditionally consists largely of Mende . In 1974 there were 3309 and 1985 10,944 inhabitants. The increase is due to immigration due to diamond deposits in the region. As of 2004, more than 20,000 people lived in the city.
