Panlongcheng

The Panlongcheng site ( Chinese  盘龙 城 遗址 , Pinyin Pánlóngchéng yízhǐ , W.-G. P'an-lung-ch'eng , English Panlongcheng site (Shang city) ) is a Shanghai fortified city in Panlongcheng, Huangpi County , Wuhan武汉 市, Hubei Province , China, north of the Yangtze River . It was discovered in 1954 and excavated in 1974 and 1976 by archaeologists from the Hubei Provincial Museum and Peking University ( Beijing daxue kaogu zhuanye ). The foundations of a large palace, city walls and a tomb with sacrificed slaves were among the finds.

The site has been on the List of Monuments of the People's Republic of China (3-199) since 1988 .
