The Panorama Therme Beuren is a thermal bath in the state-recognized health resort of Beuren . With more than 500,000 visitors annually, the Panorama Therme has developed into one of the leading spas in Baden-Württemberg .

history

In 1970 the local council of Beuren decided on the advice of the then district administrator Ernst Schaude to drill for thermal water . A drilling company in the form of a limited partnership was established. Shares of 1,000 DM each could be subscribed, which resulted in 740,000 DM.

Drilling began on October 2, 1970, and on November 19, 1970, thermal mineral water at 38.5 ° C was encountered at a depth of 381 meters. They continued to drill and found another find at a depth of 755 meters. The water found there was 48.3 ° C warm. It quickly became clear that the water was suitable for a cardiovascular bath. At short notice, a temporary thermal water outdoor pool was built next to the existing small swimming pool. The aim was to make the newly developed water known. 842,000 bathers visited this outdoor pool between October 1972 and the end of 1976.

On April 3, 1973, the municipality of Beuren took over all shares in the limited partnership to enable a municipal solution for the construction of the thermal bath. Construction began in January 1975 and was inaugurated on January 17, 1977. 17 million DM had been incurred in construction costs, the community had to go into debt.

Since January 2017 the Panorama Therme has also been one of 26 information points of the UNESCO Geopark Swabian Alb .

Number of visitors per year:

2014: More than 600,000

Structural extensions

In the spring of 1980, the spa department with all therapeutic facilities was inaugurated in an extension. This department was a prerequisite for the recognition of the second highest health spa rating “ Place with mineral spring spa” . The therapeutic products department is run by a practice for physiotherapy, physiotherapy, massage, medicinal baths and osteopathy.

In 1989 another outdoor pool and a cold water Kneipp area were built. In 1993 a thermal garden (winter garden) was built with two steam baths and a sauna roof landscape with four sauna cabins, relaxation and lounge rooms and a bistro was built on the upper floor. 1999 was expanded again. Two new outdoor pools and a cave and grotto landscape with a steam bath, a salt and heat tunnel and a shower adventure grotto were built, as well as other relaxation and recreation areas.

The municipality of Beuren runs the pool as its own without subsidies from the municipal budget. For years, investments have been made in structural extensions and in the regular renewal of technical systems. The bathing facilities have also been completely renovated in recent years and technically adapted to today's requirements.

Springs, water

swell

The Panorama Therme has two springs. These were named after the two men who can be described as the fathers of the Beuren thermal baths. The namesake for the Friedrichsquelle is the former headmaster Friedrich Sautter, who as managing director of the drilling company was one of the main driving forces of the success. The Wilhelmsquelle is named after Willi Gras, who was mayor of the municipality of Beuren from 1948 to 1983. It is thanks to his initiative that Beuren has developed into a health resort.

Thermal water

The water of the Friedrichsquelle comes from the Rätsandstein at a depth of 381 meters. It is sodium hydrogen carbonate thermal water containing fluoride at 38.5 ° C. The water is clear and colorless, has a pH value of 8.0 and 1,890 milligrams of minerals per liter.

The Wilhelmsquelle opens up a water horizon in the Upper Muschelkalk and Lettenkeuper at a depth of 755 meters. The water is called fluoride-containing sodium-carbonate-chloride-sulfate-hydrogen carbonate-thermal acid and is 48.3 ° C warm. The water is clear and colorless, has a pH value of 6.2 and 6,286 milligrams of minerals per liter.

Healing indications

Cures in Beuren are subsidized by the health insurance companies and are eligible. Therapeutic indications: Rheumatic diseases of the large and small joints, also muscular rheumatism; Signs of wear and tear, for example arthritic changes in the spine and increasing stiffening of the large joints; peripheral circulatory disorders; Sciatica and other nerve-muscle ailments; Post-accident treatment.
