Panorama head

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A panorama head is a component of photo tripods to which the camera or film camera is screwed via the tripod thread .

The panorama head is used to make panorama pictures ; it therefore often has a graduation that enables precise connections of the individual images. For the precise alignment of the panorama head, many models have spirit levels for each axis of rotation ( vials ); when making movies, the panoramic head enables blur-free panning shots .

To correct between the pivot point of the tripod and the optical pivot point of the lens mounted on the camera, a so-called nodal point adapter is used in professional single-image panoramas .

The size and stability of the panorama head must match the weight and volume of the camera; a large format camera therefore requires a more stable tripod head than a compact camera .

Other types of tripod heads are the ball - and- socket head , the cinema tilt head and, as the newest type, the geared head .
