Panos Valavanis

Panos Valavanis ( Greek Πάνος Βαλαβάνης , * 1954 in Athens ) is a Greek classical archaeologist .

Panos Valavanis studied at the Universities of Athens and Würzburg . Since 1980 he has been working at the University of Athens, where he has been Associate Professor of Classical Archeology since 2000. Valavanis researches primarily on Greek ceramics and vase painting , on the architecture and topography of ancient Athens, ancient technology and ancient sports. To his book Games and Sanctuaries in Ancient Greece has John Boardman wrote a foreword.

Valavanis is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute .
