Panoteriai is a town ( miestelis ) with 360 inhabitants in the district of Jonava , in the Šilai district , 4 km south of the Kėdainiai - Ukmergė road . The place is the seat of self-government ( seniūnaitija ). In Panoteriai there is a Catholic Cross Finding Church, a library, post office (LT-55085) and a cultural center.

history

The place is known from the middle of the 15th century. In the 19th century it was called Koplyčios . In 1441 a chapel was built , which passed to Franciscan reformates before 1584 . In 1700 it caught fire.

In 1918 an official school was founded. From 1930 to 1934 J. Šibaila, partisan of "Geležinis vilkas", head of Žemaitijos apygarda taught there . From September 1944 there was the Panoteriai Progymnasium . In Soviet times, there was the middle school Panoteriai and since 1994 the Petras-Vaičiūnas - secondary school Panoteriai.
