The Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross (lit. Panoterių Šv. Kryžiaus Atradimo bažnyčia ) is located in Panoteriai ( Šilai District , Jonava Rajongemeinde ) in Lithuania , on the Jonava - Siesikai road . The parish has belonged to the Jonava deanery since 1992 (until 1992 to the Žeimiai deanery ).

history

In 1441 the landowner Baltramiejus Urbonaitis donated a piece of land in Panoteriai to the Siesikai church for the construction of a chapel . In 1584 she became Protestant . In 1700 the chapel burned down and was not rebuilt. A new Catholic chapel was built by 1744. It belonged to the Siesikai Church. In 1864 the chapel was renewed and enlarged on the initiative and with funds of the priest Juozapas Sakalauskas and the parishioners.

In 1994 a new modern church was built from yellow and white plastered brick with a double tower facade visible from afar and a lantern-like roof turret above the altar.
