Slipper green

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Slipper green is a term used in infrastructure ( urban development ) and describes a green area in a residential area or the lawn next to the house. The presence of slipper green increases the quality of living and contributes to well-being.

Emergence

The term comes from the fact that you can walk straight out of the house onto the lawn with slippers . It was created around the mid-1970s when the municipal authorities in Essen planned to bring the ratio between built-up and undeveloped areas to a ratio of 50 to 50 (previously 59 to 41). Statistically, every resident should have thirteen square meters of green space, including six square meters within a five-minute residential area.
