Wroclaw Mime Theater

The pantomime theater (Pol. Wrocławski Teatr Pantomimy ) in Lower Silesia, Wroclaw , Poland , is one of the few theaters in the world that is exclusively the pantomime pay. It was founded in 1956 as the 'Mime Studio Breslau' by Henryk Tomaszewski . In 1957 the ensemble received first prize at the Moscow International Theater Festival . The theater has had its current name since 1959 .

The numerous prizes include the Golden Medal of the Swedish Dance Association received in 1963 and the Golden Star ( Etoile pour recherche corporelle ) received in Paris in 1970 . Numerous documentaries have been made about the theater, including for Polish, Italian, Danish and Norwegian TV channels and the BBC . The ensemble has performed in Germany , Spain , Italy (including Milan ), Japan and Australia .

Zbigniew Szymczyk has been the theater director since 2009.
